2024 Food and Hospitality Excellence Award Winners!

     For the second consecutive year, Java on MCRD Parris Island and the Bowling Alley Snack Bar at MCAS Beaufort have been honored with the prestigious 2024 Food and Hospitality (F&H) Excellence Award. This award, which recognizes activities that exemplify exceptional customer service, financial performance, and operational excellence, highlights their dedication to supporting the Marine Corps Community.

     Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is dedicated to taking care of Marines, Sailors, and their families. Food and Hospitality programs are a key part of this mission, fostering camaraderie, unit cohesion, and overall well-being. Each year, the F&H Excellence Award celebrates those activities and staff that have achieved the highest levels of excellence throughout the fiscal year.

     Java on Parris Island, located in the Douglas Center, serves a variety of coffee, iced beverages, and snacks. Whether you're looking for a quick pick-me-up or a light bite, Java has something for everyone. According to Julie Idsall, the manager at Java, one of the most rewarding aspects of the job is serving families on Family Day, when they come to celebrate their recruits becoming Marines. "It’s an honor to take care of the families who come here to support their recruits," said Isdal.

     At the Bowling Alley Snack Bar on MCAS Beaufort, Sierra Eugene, the manager, shares a similar passion for serving the Marine Corps community. "Our goal is to provide excellent customer service while offering Marines a place to unwind, have fun, and spend time with friends and family," Eugene explained.

     Both establishments’ repeated success demonstrates their commitment to the MCCS mission of supporting readiness and retention through top-tier services.
