Make Your Career Count After the Military
Building a career after military service does not have to mean starting over. Marines can use the skills, experience, and connections gained during service to explore careers that align with their goals and interests.
The Marine for Life Network (M4L) connects transitioning Marines, veterans, family members, employers, and community organizations with resources and opportunities for education, employment, networking, and career development. Building a network can help Marines learn about career paths, connect with employers, and discover opportunities where their military experience can add value.
For Marines preparing to leave active duty, SkillBridge provides opportunities to gain civilian work experience through approved industry training, internships, and apprenticeships during the final 180 days of service. Eligible participants can gain hands-on experience, build professional connections, and explore career opportunities before separating from the Marine Corps.
Education and credentialing can also help Marines prepare for what comes next. Voluntary Education and Tuition Assistance (TA) can support education and professional development while serving. Project Patriot Pipeline brings programs such as Tuition Assistance, SkillBridge, and credentialing together as part of a broader effort to connect service members with career development and workforce opportunities.
A purpose-driven career can take many forms, including government and public service, the private sector, skilled trades, education, or other fields that connect with a Marine's skills and interests.
Marines can connect with their installation Transition Readiness Program, Marine for Life Network, SkillBridge coordinator, or Voluntary Education office to explore options and build a plan for their next chapter.
Your military experience is not the end of your career story. It can be the foundation for what comes next.
